Call for Papers from York Graduate Students
Volume 9 Number 2 (December 1999)

As a Teaching Assistant your teaching style and the enthusiasm you bring to your teaching have an impact on the students in your classes. You are often responsible for helping students understand important aspects of course content and for fostering their critical thinking and writing skills. At the same time, you are responsible for creating and maintaining a comfortable learning environment. This issue of Core will be dedicated to exploring the responsibilities that TAs have in promoting students' learning.

The Centre for the Support of Teaching invites proposals for articles written by Teaching Assistants for next year's Special TA Issue of Core which address the following questions:

We would like to hear from graduate students who are interested in sharing their teaching challenges and ideas with their colleagues. Please submit a brief proposal (250 words maximum) describing your ideas and experiences in helping students learn, and an outline of your article. It should be typed and double spaced, and including your name, e-mail address, department, campus mailing address and campus phone number. Please submit to: Centre for the Support of Teaching, 111 Central Square, York University.
